Mustard oil is very healthy if you see its nutritional value (saturated fats is 12 gm , pufa is 21gms , mufa is 59 gms this value is according to 100gms of mustard oil) but still you are not allow to eat this , not allowed for cooking. Mustard oil contain’s healthy fats (polyunsaturated and mono unsaturated fat’s) but it also contain one more thing which is very unhealthy and it is erucic acid , it is naurally present in mustard seeds . And why its unhealthy ? because erucic acid is highly toxic and it is used in paint industry or you can say in making wall paints.
You can use this oil for massaging your body , hair , head but you cannot use this in cooking. It is never safe to use pure mustard oil in cooking or to take it as a dietary supplement. It is best to avoid eating or drinking it. Mustard oil is available as an essential oil.
Mustard oil is banned for edible consumption in the EU, USA and Canada, principally due to its erucic acid content. Erucic acid is known to cause the following health risks: Accumulation of triglycerides in the heart; development of fibriotic lesions of the heart; increase in risk of lung cancer; and anaemia.
